Honoring Losses of Covid: A Gathering

'All true things must change and only that which changes remains true'   - Carl Jung

Hello All-

The genesis of this event
began with a practice shared with me
by my deep friend and teacher, Felicia Flanagan
who by her very nature embodies how
joy is the antidote to grief.
She makes Mandalas as an expression
of finding what Nature has released into creations of beauty.
Take a look at Felicia's mandalas in our poster.
Nada Khodlova's Sacred Circle Dances are what she calls 'Moving Mandalas'.
Hence, Mandalas as our theme for this 'Honoring Loss' event.

We were inspired to create this event
to provide a ceremonial way for those
who have lost people during Covid
to honor and celebrate those lives...
as well as the losses we have all sustained.

Both professionally as an Episcopal priest as well as personally,
I have traveled a road with grief & death.
They are sacred companions,
great and challenging teachers
who invite us ever more deeply
into the cycle of life.

The Rev. Allison Moore, priest in charge of St. Andrew's Episcopal church in New Paltz & I re-connected from our time at St. Clement's where I served as Rector, 25 years ago. Together we envsioned a series of 'Out Post Church' interfaith rituals in site specific locales. Our 'Honoring Loss' event is the first.

We believe there is a great need to come together
in these times in sacred gatherings,
to hold love closely as a community.

Ritual is remembering to fall in love with the unknown
Music sings a song where no word or torture or grief can reach
Fire links the small to the great, the hearth to the funeral pyre.

In the Spirit,
Kathleen Mandeville & IgniVox
